Fashion is HOT in Palm Springs

This past Thursday Jose and I attended two parties in the Uptown Design District of Palm Springs to celebrate the openings of an expanded Trina Turk boutique and a new retail incubator called Raymond | Lawrence. As we stood waiting for our car at the end of the evening we commented on how impressed we were with the events, the stores and the amazing people who attended. Palm Springs is is heating up (100+ today) and fashion in the desert is following suit.

TRINA TURK, 891 North Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA

The Trina Turk store expanded its’ footprint into a space that now includes three distinct “departments.” The home furnishings area displays her beautiful and bright pillows, bedding, housewares and other fun finds. The expanded menswear boutique showcases tailored suits, shorts and tanks, fedora’s, jewelry and swimsuits that couldn’t be more perfect for Palm Springs pool parties and events. I just purchased my outfit to wear to Jose’s 50th Birthday on a visit to the store earlier today. And finally, the marquis of the store is the women’s wear areas that of course offer her beautifully draped dresses and a swimsuit boutique.

The Trina Turk event was hosted by Trina herself who offered up gin and tonics and wine with hip music and two food trucks from Los Angeles that are not to be missed. Cod Save The Queen offered up a delicious fish and chips sampler and Cool Haus offered custom ice cream sandwiches. You choose your cookie and ice cream and they will make a custom ice cream sandwich for you on the spot.

Great party. Great store. Great time.

RAYMOND | LAWRENCE, 830 North Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA

The Raymond | Lawrence concept store is a great addition to the already hip Uptown District. This new retail space creates a “Pop-Up” retail environment that can rotate with time of year, events happening in the area, trends and so forth. A great idea for Palm Springs where many retail brands might not otherwise be able to showcase or sell their products. The store currently features a wide array of retailers who sell distinctive lighting, custom tailored clothing, swimwear, beauty products and museum quality art to name a few.

The party at Raymond | Lawrence was a filled with great energy, drag queens, great music and an offering of Padron cocktails and even “weenie” stand. Great concept and I look forward to seeing how the products rotate and adapt to the Palm Springs lifestyle.

  1. Ok, that settles it. I’ve never been to Palm Springs and David, your descriptions make me want to go. Now! I love seeing the colors. TT is an elegant inspiration and Raymond|Lawrence sounds so creative.

  2. It looks so FAB! I haven’t been to Palm Springs since the 90s…ok, slap me! It’s a shame. Now I really want to go. Is that you in the Yellow shoes? Awesome sense of style. You remind me of Brad G. I love his colors and sense of style.
